Forget Me Nots for May

Yippee! We have sunshine for the first time in a week. I have a fluttering selection of white lacy embroideries on the line, after having had damp sets of socks and undies over drying racks indoors for the last few days. What a difference the weather makes! This is all very in keeping with the beautiful pale blues of my inspiration for May - Niki's Nostalgia at the Stone House calendar. Look at the detail here - swoon!
I used the forget me nots on that charming piece of china as my inspiration, even though here in France the forget me nots outside our door are nearly over - they've flowered for over a month, so they've been great value.
I have a vintage French postcard with forget me nots on it - I am loving these cards, and am thinking of using them as regular greetings cards. They cost less to buy than a new birthday card - hard to believe! I also added this fantastic lace box, with a little bit of not-particularly-special lace tumbling out of it. I am getting seriously into lace, having borrowed my mum's excellent book 'The Identification of Lace', and having also been given some very good pieces recently. Watch this space...
All of this was plonked down onto this sweet cloth, given to me by one of my generous benefactors within the last year - but who? Elizabethd, or Shelly? I feel rather awful that I'm losing track of who's given me what, and think I'm going to start an inventory. Finally, I put my only French armoire, filled with buttons, onto the display.
Have a lovely, and hopefully, sunshiney day!I'm going to spend some time this weekend sorting fabrics and lace...

Oh Floss! I love forget me nots, they fill me with nostalgic feelings. I used to pick them as a child. They are so pretty and sweet. Love your planter and the little french armoire! I have always fancied having a go at lace making, although I am not sure if it would be very successful, judging my attempts at crochet! I really just hanker after a collection of lace bobbins (is tha what they are called, it suddenly seems wrong!) Some of them are gorgeous! Enjoy your weekend! Suzie xxxx

Lovely, subtle colouring, perfect for this time of year. I have finally come across a wood filled with bluebells, which delighted me. May is a wonderful month. Hope you enjoy it to the full.

I love forget me nots! There was a patch of them on the farm I grew up on, and their stole my heart then. Most people where I live consider them a rouge weeds. FOR SHAME! I let them run a muck. The more the merrier! Most of them are blue, but I found one small plant that was all pink! Happy girl!

How lovely! Such a nostalgic collection, pretty and feminine. Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Mother's Day (don't know if you celebrate it the same as in the states).

What a beautiful, post - I just love the colours, (naturally!) Still feeling rather ghastly, but I did manage to get the book in the post today for your DS!

As for singing - that was why I played a wind instrument ;-) But still worth a thought. Thank you.

What a lovely collection. I especially love that old box, with the beautiful artistic advertising label on the top. The vintage card is charming and would make a wonderful birthday card. I too have a collection of old lace. Usually I find the best in those charity shops that aren't too precious about how they display their goods, you know, the type of shop where you have to search through a lot of rubbish - that's where the treasures are hiding.
Have a good day there.

Hi Floss! It's been a while! Nice to find you blogging as actively as ever :) I need to do a lot of catch up!

I love forget-me-nots! Very sweet childhood memories of my granny always having them in her garden... She also loves lilies of the valley, her favourite flowers.

I first couldn't believe it was a picture of a calendar - those things seem so real and that powder-blue colour... - too beautiful.

Hi Floss,
Love your pale blue selection! I have to say that this was my favourite page of the calendar - I love apple blossom time...and the lilacs are just coming out too...May is such a positive month.
I agree with what you said about comparing the price of old postcards to new cards - doesn't make sense does it? And we all know which ones us Blog ladies would rather receive...! Your forget-me-not card is particularly pretty too.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend,
Niki
