And to top it all...

I saw one on Vintage Lifestyle... I wanted to make one but apple trees don't really grow around here...
Then I was allowed to take home all the windfalls from the Jardin des Martels!
And I decorated the mirror with a few berries to match.

Thanks to Kelly of Vintage Lifestyle for the great tutorial - her wreath is a lot more special than mine, but I still had fun!

It's just LOVELY, Floss! ;)

In autumn here in New England, people with the fancy sea captains' homes put a menagerie of apples and pineapple over their doorway. I saw how they were made... there is a wooden board cut to fit over the door entrance. Long nails are put through the board to keep the apples and pineapple attached! The pineapple goes in the center with the apples surrounding it. ;)

Hi Floss, so far you are the only person to make one and post about it! It is lovely. The green looks perfect against your door. They are fun to make because they are simple yet so effective! Excellent job!

I must copy this is, that ok? I love that I once tried with oranges and then they really rotted up on me!

Your wreath looks great, and what a fab way of using windfalls, which otherwise would just rot on the ground.

To people who are wondering how long this lasts - not long at all! I just did it with the expectation of it lasting a few days and then being able to remember it with photographs. It would be great for a party or other one-off event.

WOW! That looks good enough to eat (hehehe). The wreath looks beautiful; I wish we could have one at our front door but it would attract raccoons, coyotes and bears.I'll just stick with pretty branches.

Yum, I think I'd just stand and munch for a bit before I actually knocked on your door.
In answer to your question, the boys will eat the chard but only if it is really well hidden in a risotto or the like. Although, they do like the stalks fried up with a little garlic and chilli oil... x
