Greetings from Edinburgh!

From sunny/rainy/windy Edinburgh, in fact (delete as appropriate, every 10 minutes...). I realised that, as several of you mentioned, I hadn't actually told you we were leaving! On reflection, that's because I took the boys out of France a few days before ther term actually ended, and I think I was feeling a bit guilty about that. In fact, there's nothing to feel bad about, as the younger college pupils are asked to stay away when the older ones are taking their brevet exams, but old teacher habits die hard!
So, what have we done? Visited the Camera Obscura, where strange optical effects such as the heat camera in my first photo are the norm. Climbed the Scott Monument, at the request of Son 1, which sadly almost paralysed his younger brother, who turns out to not like heights or spiral staircases. Bought a few second hand books...
And celebrated with my parents today, on their 46th wedding anniversary!
We're flying home tomorrow. Later in the holidays, we have a camping trip planned in the Pyrenees, and a second weddng anniversary event - this time Ben's parents' Golden Wedding! The entire family will be flying out to a gite for that one... I won't give you warning when we're going, as it seems like an open invitation to any thieves who might read English, but I'll let you know all about the holidays when we get back from them!

Happy Anniversary to your parents! No better day to get married in my opinion (it's our anniversary too!).
Enjoy your wee break!

Happy Anniversary to your parents.

I understand about the not saying you're going away thing.

Camping in the Pyrenees sounds great - one year we shall be organised enough to try camping in Europe.

46 years? wow well done to them :)
I've climb Scott's monument, I thought I was ok with heights until I got to the top!! My friend had a back pack on & got stuck at the top where it's really thin....we still chuckle about it now!!! :) x

Heartiest congrats to your parents!
We don't remember the Scott monument, but the Wallace monument in Stirling was a cracker!
