A very happy Mothers' Day, Part 1

Thanks for all your kind wishes now that we've finally had Mothers' Day here in France! We started the day early - Son 2 was singing in church with his Sunday Club group, which meant we actually had to turn up on time for once! No photos of the singing - too many other peoples' children, which wouldn't be right, on a blog, would it? Here is a window from the church building which we rent - remember that most Protestant churches aren't old in France, of course! It was a fantastic family service, and the youth group, 'Pringles', ran a crazy quiz which began by throwing nine sweets into the congregation, and then telling all those who'd caught the sweets that they were now in the quiz. This is a good way to get competitive people, and look who both caught sweets in different parts of the church - me and Son 2 (that's us, looking blonde and English in a sea of French and African people). My team (French/African/English) won!
We then headed off to a pizza restaurant I'd spotted on the way home. Fantastic choice! 'Daddy, Mummy, can we come here again, please?' I was given a rose.We sat below a shelf with vintage items (nice ducks painted on that tin), and a fashion plate even older than my fashion newspapers!
The children's menu was good and very affordable. And I want to be the buyer for this chain of restaurants!Look at the fabulous vintage items they had collected together! There was a rustic, food-production theme, on the whole. It was all genuine, and most seemed to be French, too.A very happy Mothers' Day, thanks to all the family! So then it was off to the:This is one of our favourites, and is in the centre of the village where Ben works. This is a typical bell tower for a medieval church in our area.Another shot of a glorious Mairie - they are always very well-kept. I hope you like the flowers, Olga! Nearly as good as your English village post. When the boys had spent their cash they set up camp on these rocks and looked at their new toys, keeping guard over my ever-growing heap of carrier bags!No time to post about my finds today, but here's a little taster for tomorrow...

Can't wait to share it all with you!

Happy Mother's day to you! Such a lovely family day you had :) And your sons are unexpectedly looking older than I imagined, although there were some other pictures around on the blog. Time flies, doesn't it? Nice rustic place - I also like such places. It is always nice when you can look around and get so many interesting details. That tin is absolutely beautiful.. and of course looking forward to seeing your other newly acquired treasures ;)

Thanks for sharing your day with us - sounds like you and your family had a great day.
Thanks for visiting. I know many like the tarnished silver look, but I have to polish mine up a little. :-)

You are such a tease, how can you not show us the rest of your vide greniers finds after taunting us with that gorgeous tin. I am almost salivating looking at it. Goodness, that makes me sound like a totally hopeless case, which I suppose I am, arrgghhh.

I am so glad you had such a terrific day. It all sounds perfect. Isn't it just wonderful to be blessed with a loving family?

That restaurant's decor fits your interest to the tee!
I'm guessing that must be Son 2 that is a spitting image of you?

I'm so glad they spoilt you! Hope you have a good time tomorrow too. Make sure you leave room for those felt pieces, your boys would probably find something to make with them too. Such fun! That restaurant was quite amazing and very you by the sound of it.

What a fabulous day! What you said about your blond heads sticking out in the crowd made me grin! I KNOW exactly what you mean:) My kids are blondies too.. and Francois is 6'9'' and has red hair! Everyone just assumes that he's not French! When we meet new people they always compliment how well he speaks the language....With a name like Francois you would think that they would guess that he IS French!

How nice that you got roses too!
