A penny for your thoughts...

Inside a traditional French house it can be a bit dark on a cloudy day... ... the homes are made to keep us cool in summer, not light and bright in springtime!
But things are brightening up thanks to all the flowers in our garden, indoors and out.

This weekend it was the floral fair for which our town is quite famous. We variously waked and cycled up past the church to the festival, and the boys were entranced by a display of pansies (pensées in French, meaning 'thoughts') near the entrance. Ben and I were similarly impressed by the variety and also the price:
10€ for a box of our choice - that meant 20 plants!

Everybody chose three favourites, and then we collectively chose a few more to make up some good sets.
The boys rolled off home when they got bored (Son 1 clutching a succulent for his bedroom), but Ben and I held out for a really thorough look round.
We came back with plenty of other plants too, but it's the pansies which are the star of the show for the moment! Thanks for your lovely, kind comments on my last post. Do you want to know what I did on Sunday? Ben took the boys out and I visited a Vide Greniers and then settled down in the garden with a novel (I often read something 'serious' for a while in the garden, but seldom a novel) and a beverage of my choice. SEE! Your advice has fallen on receptive ears! Thank you very much, friends.

Your read in the garden sounds lovely! I wish it was warm enough here, sadly we are back in the winter zone.

Pansies might be my favorite garden flower! We have them all over our house right now along with daffodils.

I'm impressed by the variety you can get overthere too! I'm not going to show this post to my mum, he he...
Clever solution plating them in cans, for a while I thought I was reading Country Living!
"Pansè" in Italian..half way between English and French!

I love the way you've used the cans as plant pots (do you put holes in the bottom first?) Sure beats my using one as a paint water pot. (and no, I don't add a hole for that!)

Your seasons are just ahead of ours. Hoping it will be ok to plant out soon - just wary of late frosts.

Love the seaglass heart :)

Pansies are wonderful flowers, aren't they, those beautiful colours are so cheerful. It is definitely looking very Spring-y at your home.

Lovely flowers! The third picture, the one of a window, with the flowers and the little rocks could not be more precious! The reflection of the garden in the background... sweet! But I loved all of your pictures. Your house is a loved one.

We also enjoy the pansies but here they last such a short time that I decided to skip them this year. As soon as middle of Spring comes, and it gets a little warmer - it gets too warm for them and they suffer.

Thanks for the cheery pics of those lovely pansies ~ i love the sound of a floral fair!

After reading your previous post, i would say any anxiety is normal considering the situation with your lads. You are a normal, protective mother giving to 'each according to his need'.

Pansies are always in my garden...they help remind me of my grandmother who loved their lovely faces!!!
Still waiting for even a weed to show it's head through the snow here, ha, ha!!
Have a great week!
