Days Indoors...

The boys and I have been suffering from feverish-coldy-grotty-lurgies since last week, although before Monday at least we were out and about. By Monday we were formally off school and feeling horrible. Thus it's been a week of staying in and pottering about. Perhaps inspired by the amusing saga about ironing board covers going on on the other side of the globe (at Sarah's lovely Red Gingham blog), and certainly inspired by Teena's amazing workroom at Kitschen Pink, I've been sorting and ironing my fabric stash. I appear to be the only reader of Sarah's blog who has a lovely ironing board cover! This is ironic, as I probably use mine less than most people...
But here comes a glimpse of it - from the Cath Kidston sale in Edinburgh last summer! Look - there it is again with some of my recent embroiderery finds from Veti Relais...Lovely detail on the monogram 'G'. Do any of you have the initial G? I don't know many Gs!So I've got rid of two of the three broken suitcases which were housing my fabric stash, and put a good part of my collection into this basket, which improves things.Meanwhile, snivelling sons have been entertaining themselves in various ways. Son 1 likes to draw Pokemon, but had never tried a human before. He copied this boy from a Pokemon book and is quite pleased with the result. The Pokemon obsession has actually been improving their Spanish this week! Spanish is their third language, and when Son 2 found a load of Pokemon videos on Spanish youtube a few days ago they spent a lot of time enjoying them and repeating little phrases. Learning through childhood obsessions - why not?Son 2's other obsession this week is a bit more trying. He has various mechanical and electronic toys, mainly bought from Vide Greniers, which don't work any more. He's been 'borrowing' Ben's screwdrivers and taking these toys apart. Once we convinced him of the need to store small pieces in a tub our lives improved, but we're still likely to find spare limbs brushed into out-of-the-way corners, sigh... He took this photo for you, on the chair he stencilled himself some years ago.Currently these sniffing boys are watching Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. When it's over we're going to play Floundering on the kitchen table...

Sniff, sniff, cough, grumble...

Lovely, lovely fabrics! When, (if) they aver introduce fabric rationing you & I will be just fine:)
I haven't taken any in to sell yet but no doubt it will happen soon. Just have to overcome my aversion to ironing ...uugh! In our house there's lots of tumble drying and smoothing out whilst warm. Sad I know but that's me!

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is one of my all time favorite family classics. I just love Dick Van Dyke. I'm happy to hear you are sharing with your kids movies from our past.

Lovely stash of fabrics.

You have some gorgeous fabrics there, and how good are you ironing it all! I ironed a couple of fabrics for the freestyle swap and felt really pleased with myself :D

Hope you're all better soon. I've still got the sniffles and it's getting really boring now!

Hope you all get to feeling better real soon. Ironing board? What is that? :-) Since I retired, it is rarely taken out of the closet.

Lovely fabric collection indeed.. How do you find space for all the wonderful objects you collect? :) Well, if I think of it - if I had such treasures I'd find the space. I like how you separated the fabrics and arranged by color. It looks gorgeous in these little stashes! Get well soon - summer is on it's way ;)

Great advice Floss, you're so right! It is nice just to have your home how you like but we do all seem to be merging a bit. Who knows maybe in a couple of years all us bloggers will be into minimalism.... actually, no I can't see that happening!!!!!!

Ooooh, you make me feel rather special now! You do have a lovely cover, very pretty indeed. But what's really getting me going, is that gorgeous pile of fabric. Nothing beats that I'm afraid. I do adore looking at these things. Hope you are going to make something out of it soon. And stop ironing will you, it's not something I encourage - really!

I have such a nice time.Of course the eye candy in the form of gorgeous fabric would be enough for anyone to detour your way and like myself want to stay .
I wish my ironing board cover where beautiful or at least in good condition ,I use it daily so it is rather worn out.

Sorry to hear you've all been ill, but sorting out the fabric stash sounds great fun - and your boys sound very talented.
As to how we fit it in before school - they get up around 6.50, and we don't leave until 8.30, so there's plenty of time to get lots in... except the telly was beginning to be a constant. Pleased I've stopped it, and I think actually so are they!
