You know you're having a good Vide Greniers when...

... you're rummaging thorough a container of vintage bits and bobs.... ... trying to work out which things to put aside and which to make an offer for...
... and the stall holder says; "Why not just take the container and everything in it for 3 euros?"
Well, that happened to me three times this morning! There was this bundle of lace and fabric - some pieces of lace carefully saved from old clothes, some sequins, some unused lace, various zip and velcro pieces and two pairs of bloomers (!) What to choose, what to choose? "Why not have the lot for 3 euros?"And on the same stall, sifting through the buttons and finding some real old goodies, the same offer was made again! Now I can do my sifting at home; maybe get the boys interested... And the other buttons, buckles and poppers will come in handy. On another stall I found a bit of vintage sewing equipment in here:
And later noticed that the basket itself was very handy, and rather groovy... "Why not have the lot for five euros?"
Why not indeed? There are, however, some things you tend to find overpriced at Vide Greniers. Vintage tins are lovely, but I can't really be expected to keep a straight face when people ask for 20 or 30 euros for them can I?Three euros for this lot - that's better! Only the red tin is actually old - the others are copies, but I have to have somewhere for my buttons, don't I? A couple of stalls were undervaluing their embroidery by current standards - good. And this extremely elderly lamp (yes, Mr Vendor, I know it's very old; that doesn't actually make it better when it's electrical...) came down in price to a point where Ben was happy to re-fit it for modern standards!
Ben also got bike racks for the car roof, a mini-DVD player - good grief, it was a productive morning! But what is this blue plastic monstrosity in our front garden?
And I leave you with this challenge: complete the following phrase in your own words: 'You know you're having a good car boot sale/garage sale/vide greniers when...'

... when you leave with everything you wanted to purchase, and you still have money left over in your pocket! =)

What a GREAT deal on all those treasures! I LOVE the lamp. And it looks like someone will be going for a swim before too long. =)

Gosh you got some good things!

No, I don't worry about that. I've always just had ordinary light fittings in the bathroom. As ling as it's well ventilated it should be OK. The bathroom lights in the shops are just naff aren't they?!

I don't think I've ever NOT had fun out garaging--even if you don't buy a thing it's fun to poke through other people's stuff! If I ever get to France, I'm coming shopping with you!

'You know you're having a good car boot sale/garage sale/vide greniers when... you come back absolutely drenched after a torrential downpour, but with a smile on your face and a full bag.

Sigh, you lucky lucky girl you, you picked up some great bargains there. Those tins are lovely, and the lace, bloomers etc, wow, that was pretty darned good. You may have gathered from the above, that I had a bit of a wet one, lol.
