Click here to get the soundtrack to this post! Then come back and look at this new sweet thing in my life....

... and on my washing line.

It's huge! It's clearly made of the kind of fabric used for 1930s eiderdowns, but this is just the fabric.

Where did I find it?

In my mother's collection, of course!
j
What shall I do with it?
j
Well, what do you suggest? j
Quick note: if you need (as I did) an explanation for the U2 video, click here.

Maybe make an eiderdown?
You have me confused with the U"....explanation please!
Oh, sad and sweet!

I think it would make a nice sheet or even a summer tablecloth on a long table.
Lovely fabric and how special that it was your Mum's.
The thing is, I think I would just be happy to have it and not do anything with it, but that's probably because I can't sew! RE: U2, words like 'wow!' and 'cool!' come to mind, as it's one of my all-time favourite songs but I've never seen the video, so thanks for sharing!
I think I agree with ElizabethD and would make an eiderdown. I'd be reluctant to use it for a tablecloth in case it got stained- and I wouldnt want to cut it up for smaller items.
Could you get some clips and hang it as a curtain somewhere?
You could make a nice eiderdown cover with this....a good way to cuddle up with Mom on cold winter nights!
Chris :o)
Oh it is the sweetest thing! Just beautiful!
How beautiful, I would just sit and look at it!
You should make a quilt top and use this to back it. Really, you know you could do it! You could swap sides when you wanted a change. It's the most scrummy fabric I've seen in ages!
I agree with Angela And Elizabeth - table linens become stained whereas bed linens become family heirlooms.

It's so pretty, I would just leave it on the line to make your backyard sweet!! lol
how special to have such a thing from your Mum, do you know how she used it? Maybe replicate what she did?
