So I just decided to put some blossom branches from garden bushes into a pretty jug I bought in Edinburgh last year. I think it works! But at the end of this month I've decided to go a little bit red, white and blue, in celebration of all things British, royal and matrimonial. So you may get a second post about this space under the stairs this month...
The little branch in the jug is lilac-scented honeysuckle. It really does smell of lilac! But the Easter scent in the house right now is a Simnel cake, baking in the oven, and the dough for some hot cross buns, rising in the heat of the baking cake. I know I'm a week in advance - I just had some time this afternoon and have cleared some space in my freezer to hold everything over for a week! What do you bake for Easter?

Easter bonnets, Easter scents
This month I was slightly stumped when I looked at Niki's fantastic Nostalgia calendar. She has a beautiful collection of vintage floral hats, and I don't. On reflection, I decided that I don't even wish I had a collection of vintage floral hats (something about the squashed flowers, I think...)

Hi Floss, your display looks as pretty as always.
My current display is made with some lilacs in a white jug.
We never bake for Easter, we buy cakes shaped like doves, as our oven is always busy with roast!

A lot of prettiness! Cx
Oh dear, major failure here. I dont do Simnel cake, and I rely on visitors to bring the Hot cross buns!
Must confess to not baking for easter - our local bakery does such lovely hot cross buns so I support local business instead ;)
Thinking back to last easter and our international chocolate swap :) Little son mentioned it today when we were shopping.
Going to cut some branches tomorrow so I can have my easter tree again this year - found some perfect things to hang from it.
Of course I will post the giveaway to you....I love your flowering branch!
Your arrangement is beautiful!!! For Easter usually we have a strawberry cake.....mmmm! It's easy and everyone loves the glazed fresh fruits on top.
Pretty arrangement - I have a jug just like that! No baking for Easter here - we're going away. Abby x
I am going to make Hot Cross buns on Monday. We do not do the Easter egg thing but I AM going to use some left over chocolate from Christmas to coat some cookies.

Hi Floss, not got any Easter plans yet but noticed your sidebar re thrifty week - it's going to be so much fun - I will look forward to your posts.
I've got as far as finding a recipe for hot cross buns, but as I'm full of cold I don't know how inclined I'll be to make them (altho I've found another recipe which sounds great - Bun&Butter pudding! Maybe I'll have to make HCBuns just so I can make the pudding!
I have some beautiful blown egg decorations for Easter - to hang on an Easter branch. Sadly, with our Two Bad Kittens I don't think I'll be putting them out any time soon!
