The Kitchen's Bright...

... the kitchen's Orange! Sorry - I still remember old advertising campaigns from the UK. Anyway, this weekend, the kitchen was orange because a friend had given me a huge bag full of Mirabelle plums.
We bought some cheap, seasonal soft fruit too... and I became Ben's kitchen assistant as we chopped and boiled and preserved.
It wasn't all orange, of course.
Yummy winter weekends ahead...
It was all so exciting that we decided on fresh French bread and newly-made jam for pudding on Sunday!
I'll leave you with some of those lovely sunflowers...
Holidays end soon!

It all looks very colourful and very seasonal, Floss! Preserving is such fun isn't it? And I love how it connects us with our ancestors in the cycle of the seasons.
Thank you for your tips on Scotland :-) I had a little browse on the VisitScotland Website and came to the conclusion there are far too many lovely places!! I need to do more research so that I can narrow it down... my Ben, hubby, came home for lunch and was greeted by an overly excited wife wanting to go to Scotland, now! Needless to say, he's a bit less impulsive than I am ;-)
Wishing you a happy week ahead,
D x

It looks like you had a fabulous time in your kitchen! We sell many food items in our shop from Europe, and we do have those mirabelle plums (in syrup) -- I often never really know what these food items are (we usually get requests from expats for them), until I see them on blogs such as yours! Now I'm glad to know more about these plums! (I also love looking at all your kitchen gadgets and cookware, too -- I think we need to take a buying trip to France soon! heehee)

Preserving is a lot of work, but think how good it will taste this Winter. I have frozen vegetables and fruits, but have never canned. However, I remember helping my Mother can/preserve when growing up.

Preserving the taste of summer -- how nice.

How do you feel about the holidays coming to an end?

Goodness, they're very bright, aren't they? I thought they were mandarin oranges. Bet it tastes lovely, though. I am making chutney tomorrow, for the first time ever.
