Underfoot at the Gite

We took a lot of photos of the floor at the gite! You might have noticed the lovely tiled floor in our living area.
The entire of the house (which was about 100 years old) was floored with these incredible tiles.
Each bedroom had its own design!
This was mine and Ben's - we were up in the lofty (and stuffy) heights of the servants' rooms, but even the servants had been given patterned floors.
I think this one was my favourite.
It really gave the house a wonderful vintage character.

What a beautiful floor. I wouldn't like the job of cleaning it though! SueXXX

Lovely tiles though have to say I wouldn't want to go back to tiles all over now especially in winter!

Wow what a lot of creativity back then. It's a shame this sort of thing is only for the rich these days. Not that I want patterned tiles in my house or anything!! But it's nice to look at anyway.
