Sharing a Pause in Advent

Today is the First Sunday in Advent. It’s exciting that it begins before December, don’t you think? We get to start before the children get to open their Advent Calendars! There are so many wonderful people joining in with this blogging Pause in Advent, and I am going to list them here for you so that you can have a good visit before (or after) you read my contribution in the post below. The bloggers represent all sorts of countries (and now four continents, too, which pleases me for some reason). We are getting together to share thoughts, traditions, ideas, crafts and experiences relating to Advent and the preparation for Christmas. Some of us follow very old traditions or have very established beliefs, whilst many of us are combining the old with the new, learning and growing as we go along…
j
If you would like to join us, please leave a comment at the bottom of this post and some of us will come and visit your Advent post! The only rule is to post once a week between now and Christmas, on either a Sunday or a Monday, and (we hope) to pop round and say ‘hi’ to some of the other participants.
j
So, let’s get visiting:
j
Jane at Marigold Jam
Yoli, the Apron Senorita
Jus in her New Zealand Beach Hut
Michela, with the Little Secrets from her Garden
and her special Christmas in Italy blog
Kaye, who runs a really helpful site for Sandwich Generation carers
Angela over at Tracing Rainbows
Claire at Dolly Dollop
Jen, the Madmum at the Madhouse
Elizabethd at French Village Life
Mrs Cozy Home of The Cozy Home Chronicles
Vicki at Vintage Vicki
Sarah at Red Gingham
Serenata, the Balancing Kiwi
Lyn of Everyday Life
Maria of Me and Ma
Lorrie at Fabric, Paper, Thread
Mami, whose Photo Diary comes direct from Japan (a fourth continent, hurray!)
and also has a special Christmas in Japan blog
Felicity at Joshy and Belle
Yvonne at Country Bliss
Manka at Little Rose Cottage, in Hungary

I am really looking forward to reading all your posts today and tomorrow (and maybe later in the week too, if it takes me a while!). I would love to do a little 'round up' post of ideas from your blogs, but for that I will need permission to quote you and/or borrow your photos. If that's OK with you, perhaps you could just leave me a comment here, and of course I will link back to you - that's the point!
j
Now, don't forget my own Pause for Advent, below, in all the excitement, will you?

Sure thing...I'm going to write my posts on Monday NZ time so it'll still be Sunday when you read them....Ooooh, the best of both worlds! x
and of course you can quote me...not that I'm likely to say anything of particular interest!

I just wanted to say that I would like to join in - I have a little pause having finished one book, and the second one hasn't arrived yet, so I will be able to do a post for tomorrow. I am afraid today's picture is not the best, but you are welcome to borrow it!

Will you please add my Christmas blog to your list? Snow Had Fallen

I made the post on Friday, but certainly would have waited until today if I had known about this... :-) But I would like to add this post, because the visit, and making the post has done so much to bring me into the delight of Christmas that I'd like to share it here.

Sincere thanks,
Josie Ray

I can't imagine I will come up with anything particularly thought provoking, but if you want to quote anything feel free to! ;-)

I love Advent more possibly even than Christmas! Shall be posting my First Sunday post right now, inspired by you! Yesterday I was at a Preparing for Advent day for mums and others, which will appear as a post as soon as photos are emailed from my chum!

I just posted my first Advent post for 2009. I've been doing it since 2005 and I feel repetitive but every year I get so many lovely emails, comments and questions that I daren't stop!

Aw! It is great to see all your efforts paying off and I will be eager to check out other's posts. I'm sorry I haven't really had time to get involved...I find it hard to be organised about blogging at times...I just write what comes into my head - I never have a plan. BUT I will try and post some sort of thoughts and sentiments if I can...if not on my blog on others as comments! xxx

How wonderful that so many have joined. I am going to have to find some time to wander and read these posts. Such a lovely idea.

When I got home from holiday, your magazine had arrived! Thank you so much for taking the time and expense to send it to me. Ooh, and the sweet buttons too! I haven't had a chance to look at it yet, I am looking forward to a quiet moment with a cup of tea to soak up the pages. Thank you again.

This is a great idea, Floss! I totally support your initiative - I was going to post about preparations for Christmas and winter days as well :) Unfortunately I can't exactly follow your schedule as it's already quite late today, but I will hopefully keep up tomorrow and the following Sundays/Mondays. Thanks again for the lovely idea :)

Floss what a lovely idea (though I can't join in as I can't promise a weekly post), but advent is very special and I shall enjoy popping to yours and some of the others you list.
I just wanted to pop by to say thank you so much for your long reply to my post. I very rarely do personal posts, and it has been heartwarming to receive such wonderful responses, and it has really helped to clear my head over it all. I do think the situation with the first school is exceptional, but I guess that's why it is so good (aside from the fact that obviously they get to 'cherry pick' their students). But the pastoral care should be as good in all schools, and it really does pain me that it's not.
Again, many, many thnaks for your time. x

Hi there. I would like to join in with Advent.
I'm abit late for the first Sunday but I will start from now!
However, could you please tell me how I do a link from mine to yours? I am able to do links down the side of my blog, but have no idea how to do a link as part of my 'posting text'.
I'm really please to be part of this. Thanks

Bless you,
Carol
