I'm a happily married mum of two boys, aged 17 and 19, and as a family we moved to France eleven years ago. My husband works for a French company, I teach English to French people aged 6 - 60, and English reading and writing to the English-speaking children of the area. We are part of an English speaking church in Lyon. I love to shop for French vintage lace, fabric and household items, and to combine them with my British and global treasures in interesting ways.
Thanks for coming over to my British-meets-French Vintage blog! Please leave a comment - I love to hear from anyone who takes the time to read my posts, and I try to pop back and visit your blogs whenever I can.

Reality Check
I am not a perfect mother or housewife. There is dog hair under the sofa and the boys eat with their elbows on the table, however much they're nagged. I just assume you'd rather see the pretty stuff!
For fun I think! Those blue flowers on the last fabric would be good and do both slippers let yourself go with decorating them with beads etc - what fun!
Definitely for fun. How about using sequins? You could sew some fabulous creation onto black netting or something similar, then glue it on to each shoe - v festive!
You could patch it up with a piece of yummy black velvet, and then sew little crocheted blue flowers on. And little leaves. And little beads to represent buds. And, and, and ......... tehehehe
I'd have to say a patch for function, but adding decoration for fun - a bit like a brooch if you know what I mean which covers the patch - you could then put one on the matching foot!
I'm adding a few extras like notes etc... in the advent calendar as well. However, despite instructing DS2 that he could ONLY take one item out of the appropriate pocket per day, I came home after teaching this morning to find several missing in other days so will have to have words with him. You wouldn't believe he was 13 at times!
I'd go for fun any day - you could make a felt patch, which would be functional (and you could cut eg a heart or circle shape, and pink the edges), but do it in a bright colour with some flowers embroidered in tapestry wool or embroidery thread, even some beads or buttons. Pinked edges are easy to oversew, or you could do blanket stitch on plain edges. Or you could applique, with bondaweb, or just stitch, some floral fabric onto a felt patch - again in, say, a heart shape.
I am almost wishing for some holey slippers to experiment! And if you need scraps of felt, just let me know, I have lots!!
Oh dear it all looks too hard for me! I love that large pink floral fabric anyway. The colours are beautiful. Have fun with your creativity, I'm sure you manage to find a solution that works for you - you usually do.
What about a crocheted flower? Or buttons would be good too. Its a shame to not be able to use them just because of a tiny hole isn't it? I quite liked the top pic too! suzie. xxx
tehehe...aren't we such a quirky bunch of gals! I really am loving the idea of a single crochet flower...how sweet! Any way you choose to go, I look forward to seeing the outcome. xo, K.

I say a patch for function and fun. You will decide and come up with one, won't you :)
Patch for fun most definitely - something floral would be my choice.

Fun! Too many to choose from, though you have probably already made up your mind. I do like Pomona's thoughts.
Come on tiger, it has to be the animal print...
I am Floss, here me roar!!!!!!!!!!!
Ooh I like the vintage-looking floral - so pretty! This WAS fun!
Stripes, stripes and more stripes...
mm..I think if I had to fun up those slippers, it would be the fabric with the big pink flower.
good luck with your patching!
That´s an easy one for me....a crochet flower. Shall I make one for that poor shoe? ;)

how about a little fabric daisy ?
haven't you got a solitary mismatched ear-ring you could re-purpose by sticking over the hole [I have a boxful - can send you one if you like!]

I like the first bit of material - a little circle would be rather cute... maybe?! xxx
Feel free to borrow the tree photo!! :)
A pair of sparkly clip-on earrings might look nice.
Oh definitely for fun!

Definitely a vintage brooch, just a little one and then a contrasting bow on the other foot. Funky and unique :) Lesley X
