Spring in the South of France

Down in the lowlands, we found these violets yesterday. But a few hours earlier, up in the Pyrenees, we had been in the thick snow of our nearest ski station.
In our garden, further to the north, we finally have enough daffodils for me to begin picking them:
The red kites are back! Migratory birds which cross the Pyrenees to spend spring and summer with us, they have been south over the winter and have just returned:I'm always excited by the first red kite of the spring!
On our way home from the ski station, we stopped in a number of villages and small towns, taking some photos of the charming architectural details. Here's a balcony in a tiny, castle-dominated village for a starter, and I'll add some more over the next few days.

Hope you are all well and that you've had a great weekend too!

Hi Floss

Thanks for your comment on my blog about the school thing. I hope you're right! I think I'm satisfied with the decision but time will tell I suppose :)

You've made me long for France now, I love the buildings with the shutters and the flaky paint.

You've displayed those daffodils so prettily.

I love the photo of the balcony ~ I always seem to take photos like this of little details of houses too! Lucky you to be living in France, I wish I wish....

And the violets ~ I am bit biased, but love them so much ~ we have a small bank of wild violets that grow in our garden ~ the smell on a warm day is amazing (bit early for them here though!)

Look forward to seeing more photos...

Lovely!
I can't wait for you to take us to that castle-dominated village.
I love visiting old little villages!

Thanks for your comments on my blog - it was lovely of you to take the time.
Your French world looks wonderful - I long to be there but not sure if we will make it over this year.
Last year we went to the Loire - but the year before we managed three weeks travelling to the Dordogne.
