Traditional French houses don't have internal windowsills, which is a great nuisance for we Brits who are used to growing all our houseplants in pots on our windowsills. However, it does give the chance for a great seasonal window display on the outside sill. This was the winter one - all the decorative gourds which had sprung up round the garden thanks to the liberal spreading of compost containing their parent plants!

A lot of my internal decorations contained orange too - lots of bright rainbow colours and patchwork have kept things warm this winter.
The gourds were slowly going mouldy and, just in time, the mini-irises I planted in one of Ben's silver-sprayed planters have come into bloom!

Out with the orange, and in with the blue...
