Drinking-in the Sunset

Does that sound like a crazy idea? Son 1 took these photos a while ago now - he and I have been going for evening dog-walks together, for human and dog exercise, and to give him the chance to chat and unwind from the stresses of the day.
Given that he's been suffering from stress, leading to hair pulling (which is getting better with treatment), and that I've been dealing with my mum's death and a general tendency to get ratty for no good reason, we've been working on appreciating nature and getting into a calmer frame of mind.
Some days we've appreciated the patterns made by branches against the darkening sky - like stained-glass windows, Son 1 says.
Other days we've listened to the ice on the lake 'sing' as he threw stones or branches onto it. But on this particular evening we were admiring the sunset.
I was so glad he'd taken the camera with him. Another chance to drink-in the beauty of our local area - the decorated roof is on the Tuilerie, the former tile-maker's home.

These are beautiful...simply beautiful and I really think they capture this time of year Floss. Make sure he knows it! :) It is good to get out of the house and walk. I think this is going to be one of my things to do when things get too much this year...talking and walking...or just walking in quiet places. With beautiful nature and sunsets like this too...I hope it warms the soul a little. xxx

Those photos are just breathtaking. I can never capture the color like that. I agree with son #1, it is like stained-glass windows!

Sounds like a good plan you have there. That sunset is really amazing. Funny how often you need a camera when you least expect it. Good thing you've brought up a forward thinker!

Wow, that is gorgeous Floss. In all the years I've been going to my grandads I've never seen a sunset like that. We saw some good ones in Scotland though.

I've just started writing a travel blog and want to do some reader articles. I'd love it if you'd come and talk about your experience of moving to a foreign land! Drop me an email if you're interested.

The new blog is http://travelling-Kat.blogspot.com

Those views have got to be good for the soul, I think we could all do with 'drinking' in our surroundings - it's a good form of temporary escapism.
