Splash of Colour January 2011

Over at Silverpebble, Emma has been encouraging us to cheer up the dark winter months with a splash of colour. It would seem that the Victorians had exactly the same idea! The earliest, and most exquisite, cards in my collection are totally 'un-wintery'.
I posted about most of them last year (lol) but I decided to save the most colourful, floral, summery, lacey ones to join in Emma's Spash of Colour week.
Happy 2011, folks, and thanks so much for your kind and encouraging comments on my 'calendar year' post!

Your Victorian cards do add a nice reminder of the more colorful months to come...very pretty.

There's a TV series on here called something like 'Victorian Farm' and they showed Victorian Christmas cards on there. None of them had nativity scenes on. The emphasis was very much on eating and drinking and doing charitable works, which was shown on the cards. It was a very interesting programme really, if you ever catch it out there.

lovely card collection, you do have some interesting treasure. I feel a desperate need for yellow flowers at the moment - won't be too hard to remedy. I think colour is so important to well being (any excuse for some flowers).

Hi, Beautifully displayed! Love your 'unwintery' Victorian cards. They remind me that I have some tucked away in a 'safe' place! Time to do some excavating!
