Boys and Bonfires...

A little late (but in France, who would know the difference?) we celebrated Bonfire Night on Saturday. The boys like to invite some French friends round for traditonal British food and fun - this year we had six boys aged between 9 and 12.Ben set up the fire in a big pit he'd excavated in our gravel driveway. I think the broken wooden loo seat was given a little more prominence that I'd have chosen, but not mine to wonder why... The boys prepared the two pumpkins they'd been saving to make lanterns for our gateposts.
As all the party-goers are obsessed with Pokémon, the pumpkin faces were carved with some of their favourite characters...
This one's Pikachu, I know that:
I had a bit of candle fun too!

The boys ate huge amounts of sausages, a reasonable quantity of baked potatoes with cheese, baguettes, toffee apples and, of course, toasted marshmallows...
They had lots of fun with the fireworks, carefully set off by Ben and not photographed by me, and then had their own fun with sparklers:And carefully supervised glowing brands from the fire!
What more could a bunch of boys want?

What fun! It reminds me of happy childhood events for Bonfire night....before it all became 'health and safety-ish'

Fabulous party! I bet all the boys enjoyed it enormously. I think all boys ( and that includes the big ones, lol ) are pyromaniacs.

We don't have bonfires over in the u.s. it is a terrible shame. I always like a good bonfire in November!

Men just don't think do they?!! The toilet seat does look funny though. The boys sure looked like they were enjoying themselves. Did you manage to escape with a cup of tea?
