Ingredients of Cocooning

For cheerful cocooning (see previous post), you may need: Good children's boks, old and new.

Family (added chocolate optional).

Time to enjoy the autumn leaves outdoors,

and indoors.Space to enjoy the autumn flowers outdoors, and indoors! You may wish to add the following:Great charity shopping in the Saint Columba's Hospice shop, resulting in a complete outfit

which made a waiter (of my own age) briefly speechless - the kind of thing you may take for granted at 20 but which is truly delightful at 42.

Outfit badly photographed here in the good company of Ben's great, great great Aunt Selina and a cheerful Amish couple embroidered by my mother in the '70s.

Friendly gourds to carve.

More flowers out of doors - good for the spirit!

Roasting red chillis - good for the senses! Hopefully also good in chilli con carne if the experiment works.

And as a final touch, leave the fork-decorations on your shortbread to a younger member of the family... cheerfulness guaranteed!

Ah yes, lots of wonderful cocooning ingredients there. Just needs one more thing for me, an open fire.

Ahhhh...lovely. And I am reminded to bring some fall foliage indoors here, too. I am reading Julia Child's 'My Life in France' right now and thoroughly enjoying reading about Paris (and its markets!) in the 1950's. Yesterday was All Souls Day and I have a poem for remembering our loved ones who have gone before posted on my blog, if you feel like reading it in memory of your dear mom.

You're obviously having a wondrous time. No question about who hIS Mum is [he has your smile!] Superb outfit, definitely a head-turner.
Fascinated by the chilli-roasting apparatus [are they suspended inside the pot?]

Autumnal Blessings x

A very wonderful and 'cocooning' time you have had, all the right ingredients, looks very restful as well.

What a great choice of things to help your cocooning! Though, personally, I don't think the chocolate is "optional"! It is a necessity! I think I'd add a cat or two to your list as well...but I hope that your family orientated cocooning-break helped settle your soul and bring you comfort.

Sounds like something we should all try this cocooning business :)

I agree that boy could only be yours :)

Hope the chillis turn out scrummy.

Cheerful Cocooning sounds an excellent idea. How did the roasted chillies turn out?

Delightful! I especially loved all your autumn pictures with the fall leaves - my grandkids and I have been reveling in them here as well. Every so often, I will stop and tell them to stop and just take a mental photo of the leaves and us playing and to remember this moment. Very fun on both sides of the ocean :)
