Valentine's Day in France is very much for lovers - even more so than in the UK. We don't send cards to lots of people, as I think you do in the USA. It's fun to see how it's celebrated in different ways around the world - and it is particularly lucrative for underwear salespeople here in France, I should think, judging from the advertising... So, last night I made a jam tart and decorated it for the boys - rather forgetting that jam isn't like fruit in a pie, and you really don't want TOOOO much of it!

Such nice homespun touches you have made for this special day.
Happy Valentines Day to you and your family.
A proper queen of hearts tart - looks scrummy :)
For once I wasn't at the mercy of Amazon for MrVV as we went to real shops yesterday!! Makes a pleasant change.
Lovely tart - so happy with the red and all the little biscuits!! The vine wreath is very festive, too. You'll see my valentine to visitors on my blog ;-0
Jam tart...very British somehow! It looks extremely tasty.
I love your heart! It reminds me of one I made for Christmas one year. Valentines Day isn't big over here. I guess it's for the young really. I think many are getting away from the commercial aspect of it too and making small differences like your homemade pie instead of bought gifts.
The twig heart is wonderful, I hope you will keep it displayed all year round!
Ooh I love the look of your jam tart..yum! xo
How romantic you all are - the best I managed was a bag of three types of chocklits for us both to share...And Mr D said "You don't need a soppy card to remind you that I love you, do you...and if you do, can you make me one?!" Ah, how sweet he is?!!
No, I don't NEED a card, but... Never mind. I know he does.
Lovely, homemade Valentines Day! The tart looks yummy, and I love the twig heart!
Ooo I do love your tart- it is very pretty! Kind of reminds me of that nursery rhyme about the queen of hearts! it does look mighty french too! Happy Valentine's day - belatedly!!! xxx
Very nice Momma....I had a quiet dinner at home with family also....the big thing over here is cards, Roses and dinner out!! all of which I did not get. The dinner out may have been nice, what do you think?
Hi Floss
It looks like you had a good Valentine's day. It's so true what you said about how differently Valentine's day is celebrated throughout the world. It comes as no surprise to me that the French will focus heavily on the lingerie gifts :-) Generally, they will also be prepared to spend more on the make of underwear than the British... Isabelle x
