First Anniversary Giveaway!

GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED

A year ago I had a little trial session on Blogger, to see if I could make it work. Here is my first ever post. I wanted to blog for my mum, over in Scotland and needing regular updates on our life in France, and also for myself, having seen some super blogs out there! As so many people have already said, I could never have anticipated the fun, pleasure, learning experiences and true friendships that I would gain through blogging. It is delightful to know that there are so many people out there with interesting lives and common hobbies and concerns - I feel less alone than I did a year ago. A lot less. So thanks to you wonderful blogging friends, old and newer and new, and here is a giveaway for any and all of you!
You can see most of it here, but part of it will be personalised for the winner. Let's itemise the goodies:
  • a very fine white cotton piece with one end beautifully embroidered, as you can see. I have picked up a few of these this year and am not quite sure what they were made for - any ideas?
  • a vintage (1967) French agricultural tea towel - slightly marked but oh so stylish!
  • a sweet embroidered floral mat (actually I am wondering why I am giving this away)
  • a remnant of red Provençal-style oilcloth - I am keeping one piece and the winner will get the other - it could be good for jam pot covers, perhaps! All of the above pieces were thrifted in France over this last year of blogging. In addition:
  • a much-cherished book of children's crafts, to reflect the family activities side of my blogging
  • a piece of Laura Ashley wallpaper border, thrifted ages ago in England, which I've been using in my own projects recently. And finally:
  • I will add one item specially chosen for the winner. Please let me know what kind of French vintage items you really admire (within reason, obviously!) and I'll look through my collection or go out shopping at a Vide Grenier for you!
This is going to be a very basic giveaway - I'm not feeling up to fiddling with lots of double and tripple entries! Please leave a comment here if you would like to enter, letting me know where your interests lie in terms of the final gift - perhaps sewing items, paper ephemera, books, lace, buttons, maybe figurines or jewellery - small things I could reasonably post anywhere in the world, please!
j
If you're not a follower and you think you'd like to come back to visit again, please do click on the followers' button, but I won't insist on it to enter. Similarly, if you'd like to copy the top photo and make a link to this post on your blog I would be delighted but it's not an obligation.
j
Just comment and you have a chance to win, while I get the chance to keep in touch with friends from the past year, and make yet more for the year to come! I'll draw the winner on February 24th.
Feb 24th I'm just tidying up the comments here so that eqch one represents one entry, and then I shall make the draw and post the winner...

Happy Blogiversary. I love your blog and your attitude. I also have to say the Pause in Advent was one of the most enjoyable things I have done. It made a real difference to me family wise, so thank you for that.

If I am lucky enough to be chosen, then buttons or anything to do with sewing or crafting with children please.

I love visiting your Blog every now and then to get my 'fill' of things French and English! I am a British Francophile living in the USA and love anything French, especially laces, fabrics and sewing items. I was prompted to leave a comment as the give away also had lots of red in it-my favourite colour!
Congratualtions a year of Blogging and may you enjoy many more.

It is so wonderful isn't it? I don't really know what extra vintage thing I would ask for - I think it is lovely you are doing a give-away in the first place! :) xxx

I am sitting here actually singing "Happy Blogiversary to you", not quite at the top of my voice. Thankfully, DH has just taken the dogs out for a walk, No1 son is out, and No 2 son is playing his guitar. Phew.

Great giveaway, Floss, and the only thing you could add for me to make it even better would be some French ephemera, I seem to have developed a real passion for papery stuff.

BadPenny said...

Ah Floss Congratulations ! We do feel rich and warm through blogging don't we ? I have met some wonderful people - yourself included !

Should I win your lovely give away I'd have to say lace as my lovely family lace was lost forever in our move back to England from Spain.

Congratulations, Floss! Blogging has a way of enabling connections between like minded people around the globe. I, for one, am glad to have found you this way.
I'd love a bit of French lace or some buttons, or vintagey paper.

Oh how jolly frustrating for you. Keep feeling positive and you'll get there faster. Don't let those results stop you from feeling a bit better.

And wow what a fabulous giveaway!! Love every thing in it. Now what would I like as a little extra? Yep you guessed it, buttons please! I still have some of the ones you sent me but I am treasuring them and being frugal with them.

Tas said...

Oh wow. What a gorgeous giveaway. Any of those things you listed would be more than welcome additions but I am certainly partial to sewing things and love papers.

JuanitaTortilla said...

Hey Floss, you know, I don't know if it would be unfair for me to join this giveaway. I have, after all, been fortunate enough to have your friendship! And you have sent me some great goodies my way for my birthday last year!!!
I'm here for the moral support, and also greed (*ashamed*). That is a handsome-looking giveaway selection, and I cannot resist!

Will be posting the picture on my sidebar. And I JUST realised I haven't yet put up the No Frills one. Will be adding that right now.

Congratulations on your first twelve months, Floss! I had always imagined you'd been blogging for longer than me... I love to come along and read about your piece of English life in France and to find out more about the French lifestyle. You've inspired me often and I am very grateful for that. I'm hoping you will soon be back to full health and able to do all you want in the year ahead.
Your collection of giveaway items is pure Floss - and by this I mean generous indeed! Thank you for the offer, I'll have my fingers and toes crossed for my name to come out of the hat!
Have a lovely weekend,
I'm off to read your first post now!

Hi Floss,
wow...a year and a give-away...and look how far you have come!
What a lovely lot of brocante (?) you have there!
Blogging does take time, and sometimes I wonder whether I need to do it, but as you say, it's the people that you meet that keep it worthwhile.
I too feel less lonely, and can really attest to blogging as a way of re-connecting with people when staying at home with little ones, is often difficult to do.

Hi Floss, what a fabulous give away! You are so very generous!
I would love some vintage tea towels as the final gift, as they are so beautiful and can be made into cushion covers, or sewn onto a piece of bathroom towelling to give it a more pretty look, plus you can fold it very small to send in your parcel, so it's a bonus all round. :)
Take care

Well, who can resist a giveaway? I just had one on my own small blog, knitting themed, to celebrate my 100th post. I have just a handful of loyal followers, nowhere near the realms of yours. I would love to be in with a chance to win your gorgeous goodies, and really don't mind what the extra little something would be... I am a knitter, writer, collector of little jugs, love fripperies, things I wouldn't buy myself but would buy for a friend, even though I'd love it for me!

Im glad I stumbled upon you blog as we miss everyday France so much and can pick up bits from you blog and relive some of our memories. including the depot vents and vide grenier's. A give away is a great idea. perhaps it's something I should consider, as I still only have 4 followers after 5 months of blogging. Perhaps Im just too boring !!
