Spot the tortoise!

Achilles the tortoise, adopted last autumn, has emerged from his self-made hibernation hole! I was quite anxious about him, as we had a fairly cold winter with a lot of standing water, and I imagined him drowning... but not to worry, here he is and he has been fed fresh dandylions by the boys, which seem to suit him just fine. Now he just has to gradually get rid of the 'mole hill' which he is currently carrying around on his shell!

Very hard to spot until I clicked on the photo and it enlarged. Glad he seems to be doing well and that you don't have our snow.

I'm glad he's up. My turtles are not out yet. I'll be watching for them in the next few weeks. I always give mine a little bath when they come up. I'm not sure if makes them feel better but it makes me feel better.

It is so reassuring when they come out of hibernation. Like Ang, I thought you would have snow.

Hurray for Achilles! Mind you given how the weather is here he might go back in for a wee while!
Keep warm and dry
Best wishes

Floss, I've found something quite wonderful in your post about your recovered tortoise. It's grand that you and your children are able to see this way that nature and its seasons. xo
