Due to a series of lovely little family coincidences, I'm going to spending a weekend in London before travelling back up to Edinburgh with my father next month - would anyone like to meet up with me on Saturday 11th or Sunday 12th June? This is such a wild thing for me to do - I don't like leaving Ben and the boys and it even took me a while to get used to visiting my parents alone. But it's my birthday the following week and Ben thinks it's a great idea for me to visit a few exhibitions and meet a few friends (?) for my birthday! Oh yes!!!
Having found some lovely Festival of Britian memorabilia amongst my mother's collection, I'm definitely going to the Royal Festival Hall for the Museum of 1951.I also plan to go to the V & A exhibition The Cult of Beauty, on the aesthetic movement. Any other suggestions? Anyone want to meet up? It would be lovely to see some of you in person. Ooh, this is so exciting...

Oh Floss. I'm going to London the end of July. I wish I the timing were different. I'd love to see you.

Might be able to make it - I'm going to the V&A exhibition next week, but there's always plenty to look at there, or Tate Britain is pretty good, or the British Library - nice cafes, too. Perhaps you could email me and we could see if our timings could match.

ooooo i wonder if we could get a bloggy get together!!! i can't do the 11th but i should be able to do the 12th xxxxx
I have French friends staying till the Saturday when they will go up to London to visit their son now living there - I don't know what time they are leaving. I'd love to join you if it is at all possible and if Pomona is able to go as well I'd love to meet up with her too. Keep us informed and if I can find a way to come I will.
This looks very positive - how wonderful! I shall wait until the comments run dry and then post some suggested meet-up points and times. If you can make them, fantastic! If not, I'm not going to spend my birthday weekend running around organising people - I guess all of us get enough of that in ordinary life!
I'll be there next May LOL all the way from NZ .. .. .. what a wonderful idea a bloggy meetup :)
I'd like to come to play please, sounds great!
It sounds wonderful. I would so love to meet you if it weren't for that pesky trip across the States and then the issue of the Pond. Anyway, I know someone will be lucky enough to join you.
Yes I would love to meet up with you Floss. The V & A is always a popular place for meet ups, having met Penny, Jo and Marigold Jam there :-)
Amazingly I am actually FREE that weekend [no preaching OR Sunday School commitments] and would LOVE to meet up. What a great idea!
Yippee! I'll keep this post up a bit longer in case there are more of you who can join us!
Oh I'd love to, but it's an expensive trip from Sheffield these days, over £100 on the train! I'll have a look into it though and see if I can get a reasonable ticket.
It's my birtday the following week as well, on the 17th. Which day is yours?
I don't know if you've all ever done the river cruise, but it's really good fun and you learn loads about London! I also know some really nice places to eat as well.
