Five more things...

... this gratitude thing is habit-forming! This week I'm so grateful for: 1) New life popping up all over the garden.
2) Getting the lawn mowed (no, NOT in my CK clogs!), even though 'lawn' is a generous term for the green silage we've got in our garden.
3) Another film-night in with Ben and the boys - this time with Chinese food and a DVD Ben bought them whilst in Copenhagen! Such rubbish, but such fun...
4) Territorial birds which have staked claims on portions of our garden and are even now singing their hearts out - I wish you could hear them.
5) And once again, all of you - family and friends: seen regularly, infrequently or never met in the flesh - all of you inspire and support me. Thanks.

Life is full of good things - if only we take the time to attend to them. Great reminder, Floss.

Dear Floss:
I am caught up on your posts so will leave one comment for all of them! I have a beautiful appliqued/embroidered tablecloth I bet you would love. It was a wedding gift. I should put a picture up of it sometime...
I just finished reading S & S last night (for only the 2nd time)! It is a good lenten story, isn't it? I agree, Elinor is uncommonly adult in her outlook for 19, which is why it seems suitable for Emma Thompson to play her for our modern audience, I think. I like to see the characters in S&S as representing parts of a whole. I think we all have a few of those characters in us vying for power at times. So, the thing is, how do we manage the destructive qualities we have? I think it is through willing to learn from our experiences and allowing ourselves to be increasingly disciplined through them in order to be able to live a peaceful, genuinely happy life. Virtues have to be learned after all!
Sweet pictures of your garden. The giant pink magnolias are just blooming here and I will have the first tulips in my garden soon.
I asked my husband if he had ever drunk Stout in Copenhagen (like your Ben). He said no, but he had drunk Elephant Beer, and Tuborg at the factory tasting place there.
cheers :)

Hi Floss I totally know what you mean about the birdsong!
There has been one bird today that was going for some kind of record.

I thought the last film was tosh, too, Floss, such a disappointment after the others, and Harrison Ford looked so old! We do have so much to be thankful for, don't we? I love coming over here to see how it's going.

Dear Floss - thankyou so much for your reply on my blog today - you have given me so much to think about and I am so grateful. I think you're right about gratitude being habit forming. Have you ever given any thought to running an e-course, I'm sure you'd have lots of takers - xxx

The blossom tree in your garden is lovely. It reminds me of my favourite painting "L'amandier en fleur" (hope I spelled that ok) by Bonnard. I too am grateful for the flowers coming up in my garden but here, far north of you (Edinburgh), the daffodils are still little 1 inch green spikes.
Best Wishes
Primrose

Wonderful flowers ! My hellebores should have been pink-flaked but they're plain white ! Ah, Mother Nature and the tricks she plays on us gardeners...
