I'm a happily married mum of two boys, aged 17 and 19, and as a family we moved to France eleven years ago. My husband works for a French company, I teach English to French people aged 6 - 60, and English reading and writing to the English-speaking children of the area. We are part of an English speaking church in Lyon. I love to shop for French vintage lace, fabric and household items, and to combine them with my British and global treasures in interesting ways.
Thanks for coming over to my British-meets-French Vintage blog! Please leave a comment - I love to hear from anyone who takes the time to read my posts, and I try to pop back and visit your blogs whenever I can.

Reality Check
I am not a perfect mother or housewife. There is dog hair under the sofa and the boys eat with their elbows on the table, however much they're nagged. I just assume you'd rather see the pretty stuff!
I love hot cross buns. When we were in the supermarket today the coffee shop was advertising 'tea and toasted Hot X buns' so we decided to treat ourselves. When the buns came they were ordinary tea cakes! I didn't like to make a fuss, but I did miss the cross!!
I've always wanted to make hot cross buns but never have. After seeing how much ones from the bread shop cost yesterday I think that might be motivating enough! Are they easy?
I think I've finally pigged out on hot-cross buns- I buy a packet a week as soon as they appear but just couldn't bring myself to choose them this week! I did score a cross into the top of our chicken pie tonight!! I love your post from yesterday. Our rector held a Passover Meal in church last night with full explanation of the symbolism., fascinating stuff- but of course I forgot my camera!
That looks lovely, are they easy to make? I've never tried. They need yeast, don't they? Let us know how they turned out. I can almost feel the butter melting on them...
Good luck. I hope they turn out fab. I love hot cross buns. Unfortunately, if I have them in the house I eat too many. Isn't it sad that two years of exercise can be cancelled out by a few hot cross indulgencies? xx

Yummy - look forward to seeing the finished article.
Off to see if I've the raw ingredients for making these.
I plan to have a go too tomorrow. Made ordinary bread today and will search out my recipe for the buns tomorrow.

Hot Cross Buns are so delicious! With lashings of butter of course, and a lovely cup of tea. Yummy.
