This little piggie...

This little piggie is one of a number advertising good-value heating options at Ben's favourite DIY store this autumn!
In preparation for the first fires, I've taken out the summer display...... and laid a fire, although I don't think we'll need it for quite a while.
The boys took this photo of the first fire of last autumn, with Raja taking central stage!Next summer, it might be fun to try this:

Have a good Thursday - we are having a gardening day!

Hi Floss!
How funny Leroy Merlin's advertisement! Oink Oink! We don't need heating too...but yesterday evening my mum lighted up the wood-burning stove for the 1st time! Happy gardening!

You can always trust a dog to get prime postion by the fire! Enjoy your garden.

We lit our woodburner in the B&B sitting room last night for our guest - as we have an Aga in the kitchen we can all huddle round that if it gets cold, and leave lighting the other woodstove until as late as possible. The Head Chef gets quite protective of his woodpile, and is unwilling to let it be used on a whim!

we lit the fire last weekend once and are waiting the log delivery next week....we have an open fire in the front room and a log burner in the dining room..we were told that the chimney was incorrect (we inherited it with the house) so are going to get a second opinion this winter before either using it or changing. We haven't switched the central heating on yet either and I plan to get as far through October as possible!!!

I have my fire lit today, it's bitter here. I also had a day in the garden yesterday doing the autumn tidy up, it was wonderful to get dirt under my nails again.
Brilliant pic of your dog! :) x

The little piggy is just the cutest thing ever!

We need to get our chimney swept again this year before we can have an open fire in our house here in England. Must remember to get that organised soon, cos I loooooove my open fires.

I would love to have a fire, but when we moved in our place the fireplace was defunct - we have two, one in our living room and one in the bedroom (boarded over) it is my dream to have these both reinstated one day.

It has been a beautiful day today and I have gone for a couple of walks, one with hubby and the dogs, and the other to post your parcel :-)

I'm yearning for a wood burning stove, but we haven't progressed any further than just talking about it! Maybe next year....one hopes!

Oh my goodness, where has the time gone? I had thought I just looked at your blog but, this morning I saw I had much to catch up on. You are so good with your posts!

We had our first fire last weekend, with cocoa for sipping. We were given a tree, yes, I said a tree. A neighbor had cut down an old cedar and my husband cut it up for our fire place. The smell is amazing so very aromatic.

I love your photo of your sitting spot in the last post!

We were hoping to get a wood burner in at last this winter, but it's looking unlikely for another year. I love your pictures.

And then there are those of us who are going into summer - apparently. Oh no, I won't be laughing in six months will I? Still I had to suffer through your heat wave whilst I was freezing my butt off. It's only fair.

Hopefully our colder days are over and summer is on it's way. thanks for your sweet comments re my Love Hearts - I would love to send you one. Would you leave me your address on my email and let me know what colours you like. Thanks Floss, xo

Love the little wooden piggie.

Wish we had a woodburner - have a gas fake one that was in the house when we bought it - one day we'd love to swap it for the real thing.

I love a real fire. We used to have one years ago and I can remember as children toasting bread.

Unfortunately my dad decided all the cleaning up it required wasn't worth it!

All over blogland, people are lighting their woodburners or open fires. Meanwhile, in my 20 year old house I am dreaming of real flames. 20 years ago fires were clearly not on Mr Wimpey's (or whoever) list of attributes for a new build - much to my regular dismay. As it means not only am I without real flames, but there is no mantelpiece to put a pretty clock or Christmas garland onto! Bah!
One day, one day.....
I hope you had a productive garden session!
Happy weekend to you

Hello Floss
One of the things which I look forward to when it comes to autumn and winter is lighting the fire! So cosy and warm. We haven't lit one so far..Maybe this weekend. It's certainly looking damp and miserable out there so a fire would work a treat!

That would be novel way of adding a bit of colour to the fireplace!

Have a lovely weekend
