Loose Ends

The Rentrée is so close now, that it's a case of half in school, half still on holiday, today. Son 2 and I went to his Induction morning at the College, which was similar to Son 1's event last year. There is a new Principale, who seems firm but kind, and Son 2's Prof Principale (Form Teacher) is a PE teacher who got on very well with Son 1 last year, so things seem positive. Being a Wednesday, it was only a half day, so they ate a good lunch (cooked by the chef, who is our 'behind the house' neighbour) and came home at 1pm!Son 1 stayed at home and read comic books. He's packed his cartable and seems ready for 5ieme, which is the second year of big school. Tommorow is the big day for both of them.
This afternoon seemed to be all about loose ends to tie off before going back. I trimmed the dog's hair, which is full of burs as the autumn approaches. I sanded a lovely little TV table which Penny gave me yesterday, waxed it and put it in place in my sewing area, to hold some of my favourite fabrics. Maybe photos later..?

The photos I have managed today are the wonderful-looking mishmash of garden tomatoes which I roasted to make St Delia's Roasted Tomato Soup. Boy, did that woman use bought tomatoes for her soup?! It was a totally different experience to use the funny split ones from the garden...
Billy Blender was, once again, most useful, and, this time, colour-coordinated.

Tomorrow, with both boys back and my teaching timetable not yet finalised, I should be able to launch my little Rentrée Giveaway! Watch this space...

Hi Floss, soup looks yummy! Would have been prefect here today - it's been so cold and rainy and miserable :-( perfect soup weather tho!

Wishing all well for school tomorrow :-)
It seems like forever until Rianna starts - the rest of the children in the school go back tomorrow, but the littlies don't start until the 14th!

Homemade tomato soup, now there's an idea. Maybe I should get a few more plants in the garden. But then that would mean more hours in the kitchen - forget it! I'll just enjoy looking at yours. Looks very tasty.
