I'm a happily married mum of two boys, aged 17 and 19, and as a family we moved to France eleven years ago. My husband works for a French company, I teach English to French people aged 6 - 60, and English reading and writing to the English-speaking children of the area. We are part of an English speaking church in Lyon. I love to shop for French vintage lace, fabric and household items, and to combine them with my British and global treasures in interesting ways.
Thanks for coming over to my British-meets-French Vintage blog! Please leave a comment - I love to hear from anyone who takes the time to read my posts, and I try to pop back and visit your blogs whenever I can.

Reality Check
I am not a perfect mother or housewife. There is dog hair under the sofa and the boys eat with their elbows on the table, however much they're nagged. I just assume you'd rather see the pretty stuff!

Can anyone please explain...
j ... how a mother with perfectly good intentions about getting homework done before an early night... j j ... ends up hosting an evening of air guitar playing... j
...whilst the family listens to Queen - Greatest Hits?
j
j
Frankly, I can't. But the homework did get done, in amongst all the air guitaring. And we all agreed that Brian May looks like Molière, so that was our bit of French culture.
j
We are the champions, my friends....

No, sorry, I can't help with an explanation, but it does sound like great fun ;-) xx
Um, I think it's down to the parents - clearly they are into heavy metal rock groups and like a party atmosphere in the house - don't like being too conventional and see having fun as sometimes more important than homework! sounds ok to me xxx
Learning comes in all sorts of disguises - obviously a lesson in not taking life too seriously, letting off steam, tuning into ones creative side and enjoying things as a family. Sounds like fantastic homework to me - necessary skills for a successful and happy life ahead XX
Same reason that a 48 yr old moonwalks across the kitchen whilst cooking dinner(very slowly,I'm not that good yet!)....expressing the joy within us! Jane x
I am so glad to hear that you are feeling like having such fun now and am sure it will do you all more good than homework - although maybe not in the morning!! All life is an education and as others have said learning comes in many different guises. Enjoy!
Because ANY parent would rather sit listening to Queen than doing homework... obviously! (But we do also have hysterics watching the youngest son doing Guitar Hero, especially with the sound off!)

I think like it sounds like a very fun night, everyone needs a little air guitar

Who needs an explanation when it seems to all work together for good!
