From flower to pod...

The jardin des Martels has the most incredible collection of lotus plants. The boys were reminded of the Lotus Eaters in the Percy Jackson film,
whilst I was reminded of how good lotus pods look in flower arrangements!
And here we are - three lotus pods for 2€, and one that Son 2 accidentally broke off when he was over-enthusiastically studying them in the garden (cough, cough, parental guilt-trip etc...)
The gardens held a Lotus Festival this July - I am going to keep my eyes open and try to get to the next one! They make lotus flower fritters...

They are really attractive seed pods, I have a couple in a potpourri. I like the way you have displayed them, with long stems in a pot/vase/jug, thats even better.

They are amazing plants. I have seen them dried too but never have I seen the actual plant which is very pretty really, the pods not quite so but they are still very nice. I like the woodyness!

Just to let you know my magazine swap parcel has arrived & my partner has received hers too. Thanks for organising this swap - such a nice simple one to take part in :) xx

Thank you so much for your explaination about lace making / tatting. I knew someone could tell me if I asked !

Hi Floss, you left a comment about firewood splitting, and how you hoped that because you are so much further south than us that winter may be delayed. Take a look at this!!!
The nearest place to me I could find Latitiude =
43 54 N.
Toulouse = 43 36 N.
This may be a fun fact for your boys (and a challenge to find out why the weather is so different)

Oh I've seen those pods in some flower arrangements, I wondered what they were from. Aren't they wonderful and perfect for an Autumn arrangement.

Tee hee, I bought a 'vintage' orange tablecloth today for £1 thinking I could use it for my Autumn display, but although it is bright and wonderful, it is very 70's (gosh does that make me vintage?) and really too big for where I thought it would go!

Those seed pods are a work of art and the fritters sound very intriguing indeed.

Hope you are all well xox
