The Great Mince Pie Race of 2010

It all started when I met Maggie B. She popped over from Normandy (in Blogland, anything is possible) and mentioned that this year she was making the Hairy Biker's Mince Pies, in place of Delia's.
j
Son 1 one was interested. He is a fan of the Hairy Bikers. He decided that he would make their mincemeat and mince pies.
j
Meanwhile, I would make Delia's mincemeat and use pastry from The Good Houskeeeping recipe, as I usually do.
j
And there would be a competition, judged by the family, for the best recipe...
j
So far we are just enjoying eating an AWFUL lot of mince pies!
j
Stay tuned for the verdict...

Sounds like a good time is being had by all. I'm sure we'll hear about the results!

It could take a few days before everyone can make up their mind, you know! I didn't think any recipe could beat Delia's mincemeat but I shall await the verdict with interest.

Yummy, mince pies, lots of tasting will be needed I am sure!

Hope you get to put your legs up tonight. Hoping I can get everything done in time for our guest arriving on Sunday!

Sounds a great idea - shame you aren't nearer - my eldest would happily be a tester :)

The Hairy Bikers sure do sound interesting! Never heard of them. I bet they both taste great but different. Homemade pies are the best!

I can't wait to read the result. I've only seen the HB programme briefly but I liked their style. xx

Hahahaha, those are the best competitions, where you get to scoff lots of lovely things, and in the end it doesn't really matter who wins, because you are all too stuffed to care, lol. Hmmm, on second thoughts, a bit of pride probably comes into it after all...... hurry up, please, and let us know the result!!!!

Hi Floss,
Glad to hear you're having fun with the mince pie competition.
As the instigator, I have to say we didn't care for the Bikers mincemeat at all, it's back to Delia for me next year.
